CANON CANADA CONTINUES TO DELIVER DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY TO KIDCHECK I.D. CLINICS ACROSS ONTARIO
MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO, November 4, 2004> – Canon Canada Inc. is proud to announce it has re-newed its agreement to be the exclusive Photo Partner for Child Find Ontario’s KidCheck I.D. Program. A total of 22,000 children have participated in the program since Canon became the exclusive photo partner in 2001. Canon Canada provides a $15,000 cash donation and $10,000 in digital cameras, printers and supplies for the KidCheck I.D. clinics.
“We are proud to extend our commitment to Child Find Ontario,” said Stan Skorayko, Vice President of Corporate Communications for Canon Canada Inc. “Being able to help keep children safe by supporting Child Find Ontario with digital imaging technology goes to the heart of our corporate philosophy of Kyosei, all people regardless of race, religion or culture harmoniously living and working together into the future.”
The partnership between Child Find Ontario and Canon Canada Inc. strives to provide parents with one of the most crucial tracking devices a parent can have in the event that a child goes missing – a recent, high quality digital photograph of the child, produced at Kid Check I.D. locations throughout the province. This photograph, created on the spot by Canon’s digital camera and direct photo printing technology, then becomes part of the Kid Check booklet.
“We are pleased to have Canon once again be our exclusive Photo Partner,” said Trish Derby, Executive Director, Child Find Ontario. “Canon has helped us to enhance the KidCheck I.D. clinics in so many ways. Not only have they provided us with digital imaging technology to take high-quality images, but they have gone the extra mile to ensure that the public is aware of missing children through Canon’s work with PGA golfer Briny Baird and LPGA golfer Michelle McGann.”
As part of its support for Child Find Ontario, Canon, in collaboration with the golfers, places an image of a local missing child on the golf bags of each player when the tour dates are in Canada.
Last year, approximately 21,306 cases of missing children were reported to police in Ontario. These children and young people, whether they were abducted by a stranger, taken by a non-custodial family member or ran away from home, are at risk. More than 75,000 Ontario children and their families benefited from Child Find Ontario's safety programs last year.
